In what was clearly a fast-tracked process, the House introduced, held three hearings and passed House Bill 205 all within two weeks. This is a reintroduced version of legislation from last General Assembly that mandates hiring quotas for an oil refinery's workforce, stipulating that 80 percent of contractors must be hired from an apprenticeship program. The legislation now heads to the Senate, where we will remain engaged in our opposition and will educate the Senators on the dangerous precedent the bill establishes.
